Rare WWE Items Auctioned July 15th - Only One Of Each!!
Originally, MWF CARES DAY was created in honor of MWF Junior Ambassador Devaughn Brent's 7th birthday to raise money and awareness for Make-A-Wish, Special Olympics, Big Brothers, the Cauliflower Alley Club and John Layfield's Beyond Rugby Bermuda.
After learning of WWE legend "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala's health issues last week, we will be adding at least one auction where 100% of the proceeds will go to help Kamala with his life / health expenses.
Below is Kamala's story:
by Dan Mirade
It's no secret that over the past few years I've faced some extremely challenging physical issues, between the injuries themselves and the war with insurance scum it's a deflating feeling. The old saying "there's always someone who has it worse" is true indeed. . .
This morning, I spoke to my longtime friend, one of the sports all time greats "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala. He has competed on MWF live events in the past as well as took part in an emotional three hour Studio Shoot Interview DVD taping with me. It was compelling and pulled on the strings of your heart. Fast forward to last year. . .
Kamala had one then both of his legs amputated. Post-major league wrestling career, he worked as a truck driver, which is now impossible. On top of that Kamala's wife was laid off in August 2011. Hearing Kamala's stories brings back many difficult memories for me. . . wanting to be able to out working to take care of Linda Mirade and the kids but physically unable to. . . the constant stress, the worry, wondering what the hell is going to happen next. . . my heart bleeds for Kamala right now. . .
So what can we do?? SOMETHING!! Damn right, the Millennium Wrestling Federation is going to do something to try to help Kamala. On WWE Money In The Bank Sunday, July 15th at MWF CARES DAY, we're going to have a tremendous item TBA that we're going to auction off with 100% of the proceeds going to Kamala. At the BIG BANG BIRTHDAY BASH Saturday, September 22nd in Melrose, MA, we're also going to put forth some kind of an effort to help Kamala and his family through an extremely difficult time. We care, and sometimes there isn't enough care that goes around the wrestling community. . .
As we get closer to MWF CARES DAY, think back to some of your memories of Kamala. . . for me, it was as a six year old kid terrified of him main eventing a December 1986 house show at the Boston Garden against Hulk Hogan. An October 1992 six-man tag team war at the Garden teaming with Razor Ramon & Nailz against The Undertaker, The Ultimate Warrior & the Big Bossman. I remember the spot in the opening of old school Coliseum Videos where a lion haired Andre The Giant slammed Kamala inside a dark steel cage. Then, I remember getting to know him personally when he came in for MWF events.
I was very happy to speak to my old friend today, and I'm even happier knowing we're going to do something positive for him. . . like so many veterans of this great sport, there are times when they need a helping hand. . . and that hand is going to be extended as 2012 rolls along. . . it's easy to hear a story like this and say "that's awful" and go about your day. . . it's another to step up to the plate and do something about it!!
Wrestling fans, we're calling on you for your help at MWF CARES DAY July 15th. . .
