1996 was the beginning of the turnaround for professional wrestling in the
While the Monday Night Wars between Raw and Nitro were heating pro
wrestling up on a national level, a small promotion that evolved from
running tremendous, innovative live events in a Bingo Hall to throughout
the Northeast and other hotbeds in the US. 1997 would bring ECW it's
first pay-per-view in April. At the same time, with the demand for fresh
faces and bodies by WWF and WCW, more and more ECW talent would
jump ship. An interesting year with a ton of great, extreme action!
