On October 23rd, 2009, Shiloh Pepin, known as "Mermaid Girl" from Discovery Channel and TLC documentaries as well as an appearance on Oprah last month, passed away at the age of ten years old after a two week hospitalization. President Cena sent along this tribute to a child who touched the hearts of the superstars of the Millennium Wrestling Federation and people from around the world:
Life is a journey and we all travel it. Along this road we meet many people, some which are there to simply help us along and others that I believe are angels. I have a friend who complains about his disability and how the pain is unbearable at times and how life in general is just plain bad. My friend, we have both walked the road with this little angel and we have both been touched by her in different ways. For all those that complain and think life is so bad, just look at her huge smile and her never complaining attitude; just happy to be alive and to touch all as she went her way. On June 28th I was truly touched by this little angel and her warm smile. Her rooting for her dad who managed me to get me to victory and how all the fans and wrestlers could not wait to chat with her or have a photo with her says a lot. We talked that day and a warm smile assured me, "look everything will be OK. See, I am fine and all will be fine for everyone also." As she buzzed like a little bee around the arena with her wheel chair and chatted with fans and wrestlers alike, to eating pizza with her family one could not help but feel the great love that she exuded and the love her family brought with them. Now, the chair is empty, the room is silent and still if one listens one can hear the words of the angel, "It will be alright." For those of us who had the chance to meet her and enjoy her she will be sadly missed; for those that never had the chance I can only say it was an experience like no other. So, now she has been called back home. She still watches her mom and dad and I am sure that the smile has all but lit up heaven even brighter than it is. Shiloh Pepin all I can say is, "Thank you, thank you for all you did for me with just a smile and those warm eyes." For you see that some people really do make a difference in this world and this young "Mermaid Girl" was one. I am sure as time goes on and the pain subsides, we will all here those words ringing out in our ears, "It will be alright." No need to tune in to TV for the show because in real life I have been touched by an angel. My thoughts and prayers to Elmer and his wife and thank you for sharing her with us. May God bless you both and provide you with the strength you need to get through this time.
